Description:

How do you bring attention to your podcast in a world where all the money flows to itself and there are 1,000,000 other podcasts and peak TV as competition? This panel will discuss marketing strategies and techniques to get your show out there and in front of an audience, including press releases, press kits, and a discussion of how to talk to reporters.

This panel will be live-streamed on YouTube with live closed captioning and an ASL interpreter. A link to the stream will be made available on the day of the event.

NIGHTLIGHT

Tonia Ransom is the creator and executive producer of NIGHTLIGHT, a horror podcast featuring creepy tales written by Black writers. Tonia has been scaring people since the second grade, when she wrote her first story based on Michael Myers. She’s pretty sure her teacher was concerned, but she thinks she turned out fine(ish). Tonia tells horror stories regularly on Twitter @missdefying, and in her spare time, she loves to hike, but normally chooses to sleep in instead. Her first book, Risen, comes out in December. She lives in Austin, Texas.

Radio Drama Revival; The Dark Tome (Dagaz Media)

US-based audio pioneer Fred Greenhalgh is best known for bringing location-recording techniques from his indie film background to the production of immersive audio movies.  His work on his original series, The Cleansed, let to him catching the attention of Audible, and ultimately the opportunity to team up with audio legend William Dufris to develop Locke & Key as a faithful 13.5 hour location recorded audio movie (feat. Tatiana Maslany, Haley Joel Osment, and Stephen King). Fred’s also the founder and original host of Radio Drama Revival, which continues in its 13th year with host Elena Fernández Collins at the helm. In spring of 2020 he offered a highly popular free online course “So You Wanna Make Audio Fiction?” and released over a dozen of his early works as free script samples for non-commercial development.

He and his family live in an off-grid home in rural Maine that he and his wife built. They have many goats.

Elena Fernández Collins is a podcast critic and forensic sociolinguist living in Portland, OR.
